About AAAB/Wellbrook Foundation Youth Orchestra
Founded in 2011 by Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board, AAAB/Wellbrook Foundation Youth Orchestra offers extracurricular music programs for children ages 10-18 yrs. The main goal is to promote not only music of Asian heritage but to explore the world of music in general, ranging from Renaissance to 21 st Century. Participants of the program have an unique opportunity of working under careful guidance of Mr. Peter Papiewski, and to perform in charitable events and cultural functions. To enroll in the program, please request an audition by sending an email to aaabyouthorchestra@gmail.com. All programs are free of charge but we require a small nonrefundable enrollment fee.
Peter Papiewski is a prize winner of local and national piano competitions both in his native Poland and here in the United States.He received his Bachelor Degree (BM) from the Manhattan School of Music and later a Masters Degree (MA) in Piano Performance from the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Poland (Joseph Hofmann - Composer and Pianist) Masters Thesis. Later on he went on studying music education at the Brooklyn College and receiving his advanced certificate in Music Education.
He was awarded First Prize at the 1997 Chopin Foundation Competition for his individual interpretation of Chopin’s solo piano repertory at the Manhattan School of Music - Jan Gorbaty presiding. In his native Poland, Peter has been featured in radio and television in broadcasts, recorded works of Brahms and Scarlatti for the National Polish Archives and gave live performances.Peter was a guest soloist with the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra under Antoine Mitchell in the Liszt Concerto, No. 1 in E flat. A highlight of the 2002 season was a solo piano recital in the prestigious National Polish Piano Festival Concert Series showcasing the musical talent of Poland’s youth. He played his first performance of the Mozart Concerto No. 22 in E flat (K.482) with the West Islip Symphony under the baton of Antonina Nigrelli and recently with the Baffa Symphony Orchestra in the Mozart Concerto No. 23 (K.488) under the baton of Howard Cinnamon. Most recently, he continues to publish music for the use in Radio, TV and Movies. He continues his collaboration with film directors, scoring for the motion pictures. For years Peter was serving as a piano faculty member at The French American Music Conservatory in New York. Now he continues to teach privately at his studio in Westbury, Long Island and devoting his time solely to composition and development of educational programs through Long Island Piano Music Programs.
Peter is a participant in the Clarisse B. Kampel Foundation Career Consultation and Repertory Management Program and a member of the National Piano Guild, NYSSMA Music Festival and Suzuki Association. He has studied piano with a legendary pianist Constance Keene. Other notable teachers include, in chronological order; Czeslaw Pieniak, Wieslawa Grudzien, Marta Szerminska-Mazur, Janina Butor, Wlodzimierz Obidowicz and Carl Battaglia.
