The Eight Annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Celebration is organized by Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board; Wellbrook Foundation, Inc. ; Suffolk County Office of Minority Affairs, and the Vajirahammapadip Buddist Temple.

Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board, I am pleased to welcome you to participate in our Eight Annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, themed “One World, Many Cultures” to take place on Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 1 pm to 5 pm, at the Vajaradhammapdip Buddhist Temple, Thai Cultural Center located at 110 Rustic Road, Centereach, NY 11720.
Our organization brings together individuals from all Asian countries bordering the Pacific Ocean including India and Sri Lanka. Our purpose is to nurture understanding of the traditional visual and performing arts and cultural values of the peoples of this diverse region. During the last thirty (30) years, there has been a dramatic rise in the number of Asian Americans who have established themselves in Suffolk County, enriching the cultural diversity of this area of Long Island. Our celebration on May 14, 2016 is our opportunity to share our rich cultural heritage with all Long Islanders.
We anticipate that the festivities on May 14th will commence an annual celebration in the month of May. We welcome you to assist us in support of this event by submitting to be a participant sponsor. The cost of different levels of sponsorship can be found our website at www.scaaab.org. For the afternoon activities, admission is FREE from 1‐5 pm and open to the general public at the main grounds at the Vajaradhammapdip Buddhist Temple.
The afternoon's entertainment includes multi‐cultural booths from eleven (11) different cultures such as Bangladesh, China, India, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam with arts and crafts displays, open theater, tea ceremony, photo exhibit, workshops, and vendor booths selling small items indigenous to countries represented. At 1:30 pm, we will be featuring the AAAB/Wellbrook Foundation Youth Orchestra who will explore the world of music ranging from Renaissance to 21st Century. At 4:30 pm, the highlight of the afternoon activities will start with an awards ceremony for “Distinguished Asian Americans”, plus multi‐cultural dances, social harmony writing contest, musical and vocal performances by featured Asian artist from Thailand.

See the colorful traditional costumes, music, dances, booth exhibits from ten (10) different Asian cultures such as Bangladesh, China, India, Korea, Japan, Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Activities includes Tea Ceremony, Open Theater, Photo Exhibit, Workshop, AAAB Youth Orchestra, Distinguished Asian American Awarding Ceremonies, Social Harmony Writing Contest Awarding, Corporate and Exhibit Booths and much more.

Founded in 2011 by Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board, AAAB Youth Orchestra offers extracurricular music programs for children ages 10-18 yrs. The main goal is to promote not only music of Asian heritage but to explore the world of music in general, ranging from Renaissance to 21 st Century under careful guidance of Mr. Peter Papiewski, our Music Director and Conductor.

Come and join us on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Stony Brook University, Charles B. Wang Center, Main Theater Lobby on our "Open Theater". The Awards Committee of the 2013 SUFFOLK COUNTY ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH CELEBRATION organized by Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board, recognizes the achievements of individuals and organizations that have helped/benefited the Asian American communities in Suffolk County. There are three award categories:
- Asian Americans who have helped promote Asian- American cultural awareness or who have contributed significantly to the Asian American community.
- An organization that has contributed significantly to the Asian American community
. - Highly accomplished Asian American professional.
