RIBBON CUTTING, OPEN CEREMONIES & PARADE OF NATIONS
Saturday, May 11, 2013 - FREE ADMISSION
From 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Wang Center Theater Main Lobby

Come and join us on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 12:30 pm at the Stony Brook University, Charles B. Wang Center, Main Theater Lobby on our "Ribbon Cutting, Open Ceremonies and Parade of Nations".  See the colorful traditional costumes, music, dances, booth exhibits from ten (10) different Asian cultures such as Bangladesh, China, India, Korea, Japan, Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. 

Activities includes Tea Ceremony, Open Theater, Photo Exhibit, Workshop, AAAB Youth Orchestra, Distinguished Asian American Awarding Ceremonies, Social Harmony Writing Contest Awarding, Corporate and Exhibit Booths and much more.

 

WELCOME ADDRESS - Welcome address acknowledgement of Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Suffolk County officials, Ambassadors, Consul Generals and VIP guests by Rev. Roderick Pearson, Executive Director, Suffolk County Youth Bureau/Human Services.

 

AAAB YOUTH ORCHESTRA - May 11, 2013 - FREE ADMISSION
From 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM at the Wang Center Theater

Come and join us on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1:30 pm - 2:15  pm at the Stony Brook University, Charles B. Wang Center, Main Theater featuring the AAAB Youth Orchestra.

Founded in 2011 by Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board, AAAB Youth Orchestra offers extracurricular music programs for children ages 10-18 yrs. The main goal is to promote not only music of Asian heritage but to explore the world of music in general, ranging from Renaissance to 21 st Century under careful guidance of Mr. Peter Papiewski, our Music Director and Conductor.

 

OPEN THEATER - May 11, 2013 - FREE ADMISSION
From 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Wang Center Theater Main Lobby

Come and join us on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Stony Brook University, Charles B. Wang Center, Main Theater Lobby on our "Open Theater". Listen to the sights and sounds from ten (10) different Asian cultures such as Bangladesh, China, India, Korea, Japan, Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam ranging from musical instruments, dances and vocal perfomances.

 

Distinguished Asian American Honorees Awards Ceremony
From 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wang Center Theater Main

The Awards Committee of the 2013 SUFFOLK COUNTY ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH CELEBRATION organized by Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board, recognizes the achievements of individuals and organizations that have helped/benefited the Asian American communities in Suffolk County. There are three award categories:  

 

  1. Asian Americans who have helped promote Asian- American cultural awareness or who have contributed significantly to the Asian American community.

  2. An organization that has contributed significantly to the Asian American community
    .
  3. Highly accomplished Asian American professional.

From 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wang Center Theater
Admission $15 - Seats are Limited, FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE

Listen to the sights and sounds as we invite professional featured artist from Asian countries who will entertain you with classic love songs, patriotic songs, spiritual and multicultural songs from around the world.

This year's Korean Program is made possible in part by the grant from the Korean Cultural Services for the Asian American Heritage Celebration Month on the program.
